About Us - Who We Are
Founded in 2004, Sidney Design & Build is a family-run Class A licensed design-build firm based in Winchester, VA. We specialize in custom home remodeling, kitchen and bathroom renovations, home additions, and new construction throughout Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley.

Our in-house team of experienced designers and builders manage each project from concept to completion—offering clear communication, high-quality craftsmanship, and personalized service. Whether you're updating a historic property or creating your dream home from the ground up, we bring your vision to life with care and attention to detail.
Our Story
Sidney Design & Build is proudly owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Joe and Caroline Wingenbach.
Joe was born and raised in Winchester, spending weekends as a kid renovating his family’s home alongside his dad and grandfather. Caroline grew up in Richmond and earned her degree in Interior Design from VCU. The two first met during a summer spent rebuilding homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina—an experience that sparked not only their shared passion for restoration, but the start of their life together.
After years spent building careers—Joe in home inspection and Caroline in residential and hospitality design—they eventually returned to Winchester to put down roots. Today, they run Sidney Design & Build while renovating their own fixer-upper, always driven by a love of old homes, thoughtful design, and a great before-and-after.

We’re proud to call Winchester, VA home. Joe and Caroline Wingenbach, the co- owners, have deep ties to the region—Joe grew up right here in Winchester, and Caroline, originally from Richmond, has family throughout the area.

Our showroom and offices at 603 S. Loudoun Street sit in the heart of the historic district, and our team members live and work in the community we serve.

We're inspired by the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley—from its mountains and orchards to its rich architectural history. That’s why each project we take on, whether a bathroom remodel, garage addition, or deck build, is entirely custom and thoughtfully designed.
Giving Back
A portion of proceeds from every signed construction contract goes directly to South End Fire Company, our next-door neighbor in Winchester. Giving back is one more way we build strong foundations in our community.
